Personal Information Protection Policy

As a company that operates a convenience store franchise business that handles a large number of personal information such as those of customers, we fully understand the importance of personal information that is closely related to the personality of the individual. In order to meet the trust of our stakeholders, we will work with franchisees and area franchisers to implement appropriate personal information handling initiatives.

1. Acquisition and usage of personal information

We will acquire and utilize personal information properly, and in principle will not handle personal information beyond the scope necessary for the achievement of the purpose of utilization without the prior consent of the individual, and will take measures accordingly.

2. Provision of personal information

We will not provide personal information to a third party except when we have obtained consent of the individual, or when required by law.

3. Compliance with laws and regulations

We will comply with all laws and regulations regarding the handling of personal information, and guidelines and rules established by the country.

4. Secure management of personal information

In order to prevent leakage, loss or damage of personal information held, we will take preventative measures and corrective actions as necessary.

5. Complaints and consultations

We will place a contact center for complaints and consultations regarding the handling of personal information and the personal information management system, and will respond promptly and properly.

6. Continued improvements

We will review and improve on our personal information protection initiatives on an ongoing basis.

Regarding the handling of personal information

Based on the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and our personal information protection policy, we will disclose the handling of personal information of customers by ourselves and our domestic area franchisers stipulated in 6. (collectively referred to below as "the Company and others") as follows:
We define personal information as follows:

"personal information" is information about an individual, which can identify a specific individual according to the name, date of birth, and other information included in the information (Including those that will be able to identify a specific individual by referencing with other information), and those that include a personal identification code.

3. Purpose of personal information use

The Company and others will utilize information provided from customers for the following purposes:

(1)Provide products and services

Delivery and handing of purchased products, and to fulfill our obligations to the customer based on the contract for the sale of goods and the provision of services such as agency payment services such as utility charges, agency services such as courier service, delivery agency services for products purchased through ecommerce.

(2)The operation of the following stores owned by the Company and others:

In order to respond to inquiries and complaints concerning the operation of stores, such as incidents regarding products, customer service, cleaning, accidents that occurred in the store, crimes, and lost items.

In order to provide marketing information regarding our products, services, and other promotional activities.

In order to send company information, service information, and collateral.

In order to provide information on surveys and monitors.

Other communication to the customer.

(4)Conduct surveys and monitors

In order to conduct surveys on products and services, and monitor campaigns.

For collect survey data and analysis.

(5)To deliver gift items

In order to deliver gifts from a customer to another person.

In order to forward parcels to carriers.

To fulfill other obligations to the customer based on the contract with the customer.

Regarding gifts, to notify the personal information of the recipient for the next gift giving within the scope of (3) above.

For purpose of personal information utilization for membership services including credit cards such as Famima T Card, FamilyMart free Wi-Fi Internet connection service, 24 Cleaning Members, and Fit & GO, please refer to the respective membership terms and conditions.

We will not utilize customers’ personal information other than the purposes described in (1) to (7) above without the prior consent of the customer except when legally required by law and other regulations.

4. Acquisition of personal information

We properly obtain personal information from customers by documentation (including application from websites and email), and other methods obvious to the customer.

When we obtain personal information, we post the purpose and scope on documents or on our website, and obtain consent. However, in case our partner company has obtained personal information and has provided to us with the customer’s consent, it is deemed to have consent.

Our website may use cookies and web beacons in order to enhance the information and services provided, or to use the website more conveniently. We will not obtain information that can identify the individual with cookies or web beacons without the prior consent from the individual.

5. Providing personal information to third parties

We will not provide personal information to third parties without the consent of customers with the exception of 6., 7., and situations stated below.

(1)When required by law.

(2)When it is deemed necessary to protect the life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the person’s consent.

(3)When it is particularly necessary for the improvement of public health or the proper upbringing of children, and it is difficult to obtain the person’s consent.

(4)When we must cooperate with a national or local government organization or its commissioned organization, and obtaining the person’s consent will make the execution of the duties difficult.

(5)When a franchisee operates a store described in 3.(2), and an inquiry from a customer regarding the store operation is deemed to be more appropriate for the franchisee to handle.

(6)When we determine that it is appropriate that the supplier of the product or service, or the manufacturer of the furniture or equipment, or the maintenance provider would respond to the customer’s inquiry directly.

6. Joint use of personal information

We may jointly use personal information within the scope to achieve the utilization purpose described in 3.(2).

The items that can be jointly used include name, address, phone, fax, birthday, sex, email address, web service user name, purchase history, and surveys registered with our Company.

7. Outsourcing of handling of personal information

We may outsource the handling of personal information. In this case, we will select companies that have sufficient personal information protection standards, will sign a contract to oblige the company to protect the information, as well as to provide necessary oversight on the management of personal information.

8. Security control measures for personal information

In order to prevent leakage, loss or damage of personal information and to ensure the secure management of personal data, we will establish security management rules and structures, take sufficient security measures and will take proper initiatives to ensure that they are accurate and up to date.

9. Requests for disclosure of personal information

Requests for notification of purposes of use, disclosure, correction, addition, removal, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of provision to third parties, or the submission of complaints, please refer to “Regarding the disclosure of personal information and other requests”.

Regarding the disclosure of personal information and other requests

1. Definition of held personal data

Held personal data is defined as data that we have the authority to disclose, correct, add, delete, suspend the use of, and suspend the provision to third parties (hereinafter referred to as "disclosure") by the request of the customer. However, if it falls under any of the following, it will not be subject to disclosure.

 (1)In case that it may jeopardize the life, body, property and other rights of the individual or third persons.

 (2)When there is a possibility that it may cause a serious hindrance to the appropriate execution of duties

 (3)When it may become a violation of law.

Personal information that we have been provided from our partner companies are not applicable to disclosure, however will follow the instructions of the owner.
