The National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization

Promoting public participation in forest management on a global scale to protect forests that continue to be run down and reduced.

The National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization is a public interest incorporated association that promotes public national afforestation movements.

Forests have blessed us with many invaluable gifts, such as providing us with water resources, preserving biodiversity and preventing global warming. The National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization is focused on handing down forests in good condition to the next generation and carries out various projects to this end, such as organizing national afforestation campaigns, nurturing Green Youth Groups, and supporting forest volunteer activities. Additionally, funds raised by the Green Donations are used to support efforts such us: planting trees and periodically thinning forests to revitalize run-down forests with water resources; promoting afforestation efforts by educating youths on the environment and managing forests to maintain healthy body and mind; and supporting NGOs and NPOs engaged in international cooperative efforts to restore tropical forests and nurture greens in desert regions.

FamilyMart has been sending funds raised by the FamilyMart Connecting Dreams Foundation Donation at our stores to Green Donations and the Listening and Writing Koshien (Network for Coexistence with Nature) since 2006 and to the Project for the Development of Forests for the Future of Children since 2018.

Forest Class

The National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization utilizes Green Donations to put together the Forest Class – Little Donguri and His Forest Friends for preschoolers and kindergarteners. The program teaches children about the wonders of the forest and tours the country to get participants involved in managing forests. The forest management master Little Donguri and his forest friends perform a show for the children to enjoy before getting everyone to plant acorn seeds. The saplings grown in the kindergartens are collected after two years and planted in the wild.

Listening and Writing Koshien

The Listening and Writing Koshien is organized by the Network for Coexistence with Nature, a certified NPO. This program is aimed at high school students, who visit experts on forests, seas and rivers to listen, write down and record their knowledge, skills and lifestyles. Not only has FamilyMart been donating funds since 2006, we also set up notices in our stores calling for participants and send our employees to help. Meeting experts from different generations broadens one’s perspectives and is an invaluable experience for high school students thinking about their careers and futures.
