Save the Children Japan
Save the Children is an international NGO with over a hundred years of history that supports children. The organization actively provides emergency assistance and humanitarian support in the areas of health, nutrition, and education in 120 countries all over the world including Japan.
FamilyMart has been supporting Save the Children Japan since 1993 with the donations we collect at our stores. In 2006, we began raising funds for the FamilyMart Connecting Dreams Foundation Donation at our stores and Save the Children Japan has continued to be one of the recipients of its proceeds.
Support through the FamilyMart Connecting Dreams Foundation Donation
A portion of the funds raised for the FamilyMart Connecting Dreams Foundation Donation at FamilyMart stores across Japan is donated to Save the Children Japan to support their efforts, together with matching gifts (matching in-store donations at a fixed ratio) and specified donations made through the in-store Multi-copy machine.
In addition to delivering aid directly to local children, the FamilyMart Connecting Dreams Foundation Donation supports a wide range of activities to comprehensively help children in need. These include advocacy activities (proposing policies) as well as publicity and corporate partnership activities to enhance efforts to support children.
Activities in 2022
Save the Children delivered emergency assistance and humanitarian support to the children who have been affected by conflicts and children who are facing food crisis. The organization also conducted support activities in the areas of health, nutrition, preparation for disasters, and protection of children all over the world, delivering support to over 48 million children. Furthermore, we have been gathering in-store donations for the Turkey-Syria Earthquake that transpired in February 2023. These donations are dedicated to aiding the children and families impacted by the earthquake in partnership with Save the Children Japan.

Support by the Global Partnership Program
The Global Partnership Program is the initiative FamilyMart conducts in collaboration with Save the Children in the countries and regions where FamilyMart has operations. We tackle social challenges these children face and provide support for their needs. From fiscal 2019 to fiscal 2020, the funds were used to pay for the education promotion project for prevention of water-related accidents.
We created a systematized program and conducted support activities such as development of educational materials related to water accidents and awareness building for children, teachers, and local communities.

SDGs Online Classrooms for Middle/High School Students
While more and more people are interested in SDGs, we hold SDG Online Classrooms “What Can We Do Now?” for the purpose of providing middle/high school students with opportunities to learn about SDGs. In these online classrooms, FamilyMart and Save the Children collaboratively act as instructors to introduce basic knowledge of SDGs and initiative examples to achieve SDGs.
We aim for middle/high school students, who will be entrusted to achieve SDG goals in the future, to teach that SDGs are relevant to them through considering specific initiatives that are close to them through participation in group work.
The classroom also touches on both the initiatives by the corporation and by the NGO, introducing what these two entities can achieve through their partnership.
